Thinking about Expatriating to Mexico?

People today have a more globalized way of looking at the world. And with the way the way we work is changing, there are more options as to where to live and the type of lifestyle to lead. One of the most popular countries for expatriates Mexico.  Europeans, Canadians and Americans are choosing this country as the place to live for various reasons. These range from the weather to it being the closest neighboring country to their own.  In fact, Mexican immigration statistics suggests that there are now about 5 million expats living in different parts of Mexico. That’s a lot of Americans, Canadians and foreigners, and for there to be that many expats living in Mexico; well let’s just say there has to be a reason.   

Apparently there is. Recently on a trip to Playa del Carmen and the Tulum area in the state of When we asked expats in Tulum and Playa del Carmen, “What attracts you to this area?” The answers were all similar: the friendly people, the environment, the laid-back lifestyle and the lower cost of living.  

Every expat we ran into said the same thing, “It’s the people, the place, the fun!”

 Whatever the reason, many more Americans as well as people from other countries like Canada and the UK, are giving up their homes, their work and their lives to run off and live in Mexico.
