Isla Ixtapa, located in the state of Guerrero in Mexico, is a beautiful and secluded island that is perfect for those looking for a peaceful and relaxing vacation. Playa Coral, one of the island’s most popular beaches, is a great place to spend vacation time with kids, and it is safe for swimming for young people (bring water shoes, though, there is coral and rocks the deeper you go and can be sharp on tender feet!).

Here are some tips on how to enjoy a fantastic family vacation in Playa Coral, Isla Ixtapa:

Enjoying the swing on Isla Ixtapa, Playa Coral
1.  Relax on the Beach: Playa Coral is a beautiful and tranquil beach that is perfect for relaxing. The beach has soft sand, crystal-clear water, and plenty of palm trees that provide shade. Bring a beach towel, a good book, and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

2.  Go Snorkeling: Playa Coral is a great place for snorkeling, and there are plenty of tour operators on the island that offer snorkeling excursions. There are tours that offer a "float board" and snorkels for the less adventurous types. The water is clear and teeming with marine life, including colorful fish, sea turtles, and even stingrays. We actually saw a pair of stingrays mating underwater!
3. Enjoy Local Cuisine: There are plenty of restaurants on Isla Ixtapa that offer delicious local cuisine. Don't miss out on the opportunity to try fresh seafood dishes such as ceviche, grilled fish, and shrimp cocktails. We ate at several restaurants during our trip, but the best food was at Lili Cipriani, which had some of the best octopus ajillo that we have ever tasted!  The prices were reasonable for the island and we were able to pay with a card, so we could get travel points, which was nice.
4.  Go Fishing: Fishing is a popular activity in the area, and there are plenty of tour operators that offer fishing excursions. You can catch a variety of fish, including marlin, sailfish, and tuna. We did rent a private boat tour one day, which the children enjoyed, and we caught two very small fish but nothing larger than our palms (the kids still had a lot of fun). It was nice to have a boat and a captain at our disposal for the entire day, he basically took us anywhere we wanted and we had the boat entirely to ourselves. The cost was approximately 3,500 pesos.

5.  Relax at a Spa: Isla Ixtapa has several spas that offer a variety of treatments, including private massages, which are very relaxing on the beach with the waves and the salt air. Treat yourself to a relaxing spa day and unwind in the tranquil island atmosphere. Mom and Dad each took turns getting massages, while the kids enjoyed the water, which were amazing! Beach massages are about 350 pesos (15-16 US dollars) which is a great price.
