​How to Get to Sisal from Merida

Getting to Sisal is relatively easy. The town is located approximately an hour's drive west of Mérida, the capital of Yucatan. From Mérida, you can rent a car, take a taxi, or hop on a local bus to reach Sisal. Alternatively, some tour operators also offer guided day trips to Sisal. The quickest way to get from Mérida to Sisal is to taxi which costs $440 - $550 (about $25 USD at the current exchange rates)  and takes  about 45 min.

​The entire town of Sisal is walkable, and almost everything (shops, the beach, restaurants) is within walking distance of the town's center. You can also rent a car at the Merida airport if you want to explore the surrounding area, we recommend Leon Car rentals, across the street from Merida airport (do not rent from the car rental kiosks inside the airport! They will rip you off!)
